SOA Assessment
How to develop the BPM-SOA Business Case
The Assessment Program is the best way to discover your SOA Maturity and to structure and to organize your SOA efforts. The assessment starts with strategy development and planning related to an Enterprise SOA transformation. Once a roadmap is created, the core processes, practices, policies and organizational structures are tailored. Employees are sent to SOA workshops and classroom training to upgrade their capabilities. Pilot projects are selected and executed to validate that the processes, infrastructure and organizational capabilities are in place to meet the needs of future projects.
- SOA Evaluation Opportunities: Discovers the maturity SOA approach and determines the values and opportunities for the business.
- SOA Strategy & Roadmap Development: Discover de strategy value of SOA and establish the transformation program, define priorities and design the SOA Program Plan:
- Focus on business and I.T. alignment, portfolio governance, organizational design, enterprise and infrastructure architecture updates, communications and change management. All strategy engagements incorporate "success metric" development enabling an enterprise specific SOA scorecard to be created and managed.
- The adoption model is used to create a step-by-step approach to successful transformation to interoperability framework. The transformation program is aligned with the I.T. and SOA strategic plan. It is not uncommon for the roadmaps to range from 3-5 years in length, outlining major milestones, resource requirements and review points.
- Business Case. Any business case – including SOA or BPM – has to describe how the expected business value for the en-devour exceeds necessary efforts including investments, implementation, and on-going maintenance costs. The return on investment of an SOA originates mostly in an increased agility and flexibility of the enterprise at large (not solely IT) and concomitant cost reductions at the business process level and within IT. Our Business Case Model evaluates the business agility and cost reductions that the customers are looking for at a much lower cost than could be achieved by replacement systems.
